Oven Door
The Saturn Third Generation Coke Oven Door seals the oven opening. A new concept, this door twists, turns, and seals to match oven contortions.
Major door components consist of a diaphragm plate, door body, and plugs. The diaphragm plate mounts the seal elements. The seal elements consist of a seal, spacer bar, and side springs. Fabricated from Inconel alloy steel, the seal surrounds the door in one piece. Inconel produces a seal that withstands high temperatures and corrosive conditions, yet has minimum deterioration or dimensional distortion. Small seal damage, such as bent or nicked areas, may be repaired with the seal in place. Large damaged areas are easily repaired by simply slicing out the damaged area, and welding in new seal material. The side springs are leaf springs, each about six inches long and bolt along theĀ seal for its full length. The side springs provide side-support for the seal as it is pressed against the oven jamb. A spacer bar separates the seal and side springs.
The door body consists of the frame, adjustment springs, latch assembly, and lifting pocket. Pusher-side door bodies have a leveler door assembly at the top.
